vsCode

"Free/Libre Open Source Software Binaries of VSCode"

It's very much what the tag line says.

Consider the following:

  • vsCode is free and open-source
  • vsCode is made and distributed by Microsoft
  • vsCode ships with "telemetrics"
    • usage data is being sent back to Microsoft

If any of this concerns you, you don't have to miss out!

You can still enjoy all the features of vsCode, while sending no data to Microsoft!

It's project on Github, that pulls down the code from the vsCode repository (since it's open-source), and compiles it without tele-metrics for you!

Personally, i haven't bothered auditing vsCodium to see if it's dialing out anywhere, but the hacker community seems to like it!

Basically, use this if you trust the vsCodium people more than the Microsoft ones.
